Organ Donation

Well let’s face it – we could have this solved by next Monday.

Organ donating

Organ donating

The rules currently in use in the UK are a waste of time (and lives)

All we need to do is make organ donation the norm. Forget tip-toeing around upset relatives who have just lost a loved one – trying to get their permission.

Let’s just turn the system on its head – if you really don’t want to donate your organs because you’ve been brainwashed into thinking the next stop’s paradise, fine, you carry a ‘keep-your-hands-off-my-kidneys’ card or maybe get listed on a central register. For everyone else, let’s just get on with it. If you don’t carry the ‘don’t remove’ card, then there’s no use complaining now – which luckily you can’t do as you’re dead already.

If this simple method is unacceptable to the masses, then at least we could use the ‘donor card’ system we currently have properly. At present, even if I carry a card saying ‘help yourself doc’, someone needs to get permission from my next of kin. If you still need permission why the hell did you give me a donor card in the first place?
